when it was still october

I've never really gotten into Halloween all that much, but having a kid makes it more fun and having a 2-year-old who is starting to catch on to things like holidays is even better. We celebrated a couple times this year, and yesterday's celebration came with zumba, since we have several classes on Mondays. Our students came decked out in costumes to dance, brought friends, and really made classes so much fun. The people in this community are amazing and we're so lucky to know them. It felt rather appropriate to celebrate with my zumba family--the team members really feel like family to me, and I love that.

easter in two parts, a week later, part 2

Emory looked so adorable in his green sweater and blue seersucker pants. And though he was without nap, the little man enjoyed another basket from the Easter Bunny (apparently he visits Grandma's house too), and lasted for about 10 minutes coloring eggs his second time around. I'm so glad I reused his bow-tie from last year--lengthened with a piece of ribbon and a safety pin. This guy looks good in green, and it's so appropriate for this time of year with all the abundant plant growth and lush, new green life surrounding us.

We prepared for the Easter Bunny's arrival by letting Emory get really into coloring eggs. He loved it, but of course, hated the sticky mess on his hands afterwards. Such a child of his father! Anyway, our colors enticed the Bunny because he came, and Emory relished in his spoils of goldfish crackers immediately upon finding them in his basket. Holidays with a kid are so much fun.

valentine's day in the city

Thanks to sisters whose Valentine is shorter than 3 feet, adorable, and toddles all over, Jon and I got to celebrate our lover's day around our favorite city. We're so grateful we did. It was a simple, sweet, romantic night, complete with a gift card dinner, and a rich French dessert, coincidentally from Maximillen, the very restaurant that hosted my bridal shower the day before we wed. We sat in the same room and all, with the same view of the Sound, but this time together, even more in love, and of course, married. And we visited some of our favorite spots around the city--places we haven't been to for years but at which we have sweet memories of our first year dating. It's truly a treat to rediscover Seattle together.
