hare krishna hare krishna hare hare hare hare

After waiting for 3 years to be able to attend India Fest together again, we went last night and enjoyed the food and festivities together. It was a nice break to the hectic school week. The celebration seems to have gotten a bit more popular as this year they provided shoe covers (since their temple is holy and they do not wear shoes inside), the food was served inside the temple and the line was longer than we have seen before (it took us about 30 minutes to get the feast), and the henna tattoo lines were insane. We were only disappointed by the tamed spice to the food--most likely done to please the masses and our struggling camera. We would have had better and more photos had the battery not been dead when we started.

the feast, complete with popadums. if only Utah County recycled, we'd be happier about the styrofoam
me enjoying the feast, trying to open my mouth as wide as my still sore jaws allow
a dancer most likely interpreting what it's like to be the stolen wife of one god, humiliated by another god
a battery-is-dead-shoot-this-quick shot. and the lingering chipmunk cheeks

the sight where we took a photo 3 years ago and again last night. the temple is quite a sight
and we stayed long enough this year to see the burning of the god. thank heaven the fire department was there to put out many falling arms and heads from this beast
Oh, and we also bid the llamas hello and made friends with the holy cows, and bought a henna kit to experiment with at home. We'll post pictures from that experience when it happens.

  1. That's so awesome. We miss going to the Hare Krishna temple!!! One of the few things we miss...although being someplace that does recycle and has a lot more diversity is nice :)

Glad you guys had fun! We miss you!!!!!!
