First, there was our wedding day, April 25th 2008.
we enjoyed ourselves...
we ate good food...
and overall, thoroughly enjoyed this special day.
Then, after a minor setback in time somewhere between Olympia and Vancouver due to a bored Police officer, we made it to the Oregon Coast to enjoy our honeymoon!
We had a wild ride...
then, a different kind of wild ride to end the honeymoon....
and we got "Bum Arm" and I got to move us into our first apartment.
We ate more good food...
and found ourselves at the American Le Mans Race here in Utah...
showing our support for the prancing horses.
We spent a good deal of time in Park City and Heber City, detailing cars for Matt and teaching tennis, and of course some good food at the bowling alley and bbq restaurant.
We bought ourselves a British Racing Green MINI Cooper, which we enjoyed...
and it took us on a surprise trip to Las Vegas!
Which we obviously enjoyed!
Then on to Newport Beach California, to visit Nunu and enjoy swimming in the salt water pool...
and picnicking with him at the ocean!
We spent a day at Disney's California Adventure.
When back in Utah we spent time in the cooler, cleaner, clearer air of the mountains...
and we even took a midnight moonlit ski lift ride!
We went home to enjoy family and the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
We posed for cheesy photographs!
And to curb our depression on the drive back to Utah we enjoyed more good food, this time in the form of Chocolixers from Godiva!
We came home to serious spider issues, and therefore many sleepless nights, right Meghan?
And more good food, tofu patties...
and homemade Greek pizza.
Then we took on a new adventure known as "wisdom teeth removal."
But eventually, you got better and were able to enjoy good food again.
India Fest!
Then reality hit and we hit the books...
you worked hard, and well... I worked.
To maintain sanity you let me charge up the mountainsides only to occasionally stop for good food and to photograph some friends!
We ate more good food.
Whose hand is that?!
Despite your broken elbow you got back in the saddle, and a fine saddle you chose...
in the form of a classic Italian Bianchi!
We watched conference on our computer...
and enjoyed good company and of course, good food.
As the weather cooled down, we bundled up for temple trips...
and more good food (gelato).
We caught the first snowfall's flakes on our tongues.
We had family come and visit for your birthday...
where we made good food (breakfast in bed!)...
enjoyed the fall leaves...
opened presents...
and had a great time pumpkin hunting!
Then there was this... but it got figured out.
We carved our pumpkins...
got really messy...
and ate plenty of candy.
We represented our Smallville obsession by dressing as Lois and Clark for Halloween.
You made amazing homemade bread!
We ate more good food...
and I wanted more of the good food.
We took more drives up Emigration canyon, this time was in a convertible Saab to soak up the fall leaves.
We flew home to Washington and prepared a feast. Plenty of good food for Thanksgiving!
Like true lovers, we rode off into the sunset!
Now, I can hardly remember since it was such a short time, but I think we actually went back to Utah before our Christmas break. At least long enough to put up our first Christmas tree together!
And experience more snowfall.
But we soon went back to Washington, only to be met by more snow... but a happy friend thrilled to have her two favorite people back!
Who can forget the trip to get the Christmas tree with Olivia?!
We celebrated a semester of good grades with some sparkling cider!
We made Christmas gifts...
and enjoyed riding the carousel in Seattle!
We had a lovely Christmas with our family...
my first truly white Christmas that I know of...
with a lot of snow and vehicles at the Beutler's!
We enjoyed more good food!
Then there was the convenient parking spot and enjoyable view for fireworks at the Space Needle celebrating the new year, 2009!
I got to do some good ol' fashion hard work, while you sneezed and played with the dogs...
and we enjoyed more time with family.
Pretty much all of Western Washington went under water...
but, the water eventually went away, and we went searching for it again on a ferry boat. In the process, we kidnapped your mom for a trip to Whidbey Island...
and of course, our favorite restaurant, The Mad Crab for some blackened salmon Caesar salad!
We got our picture taken a lot this year!
We celebrated my birthday with our family.
But eventually had to go back to Utah, stock up on necessities, and to take on another school term.
Not long after we got home we got this bit of news...
you thought you were huge.
We went to the car show...
and endured even more snow.
This was an all too familiar sight with our Saabs!
Our fleet at one point in time, not long before we started selling them off, one by one.
We decided to drive the 900 Convertible out to the Great Salt Lake...
only to decide to keep going, and see how far Nevada was.
After a romantic dinner at Subway in Wendover to avoid the cigarettes of the casinos, we bundled up, put the top down and drove home. Okay, so really we only drove with the top down maybe twenty miles before FREEZING, whereupon we put the top up and finished the drive.
We went and visited Briana, Cris, and Dave in New York City...
where we saw the sights...
and a little family history.
We came home and tried to take things easy so "Baby Baby" would be safe. I got to move us again, this time due to the pregnancy...
and we got this little number.
We bid farewell to the Alfa.
While watching conference we enjoyed the company of good friends...
bid farewell to the 900, though somewhat reluctantly...
and of course enjoyed more good food!
Paisley kept growing...
as did you!
I played a little tennis...
and learned to better photograph cars
We had some great garage sale finds, and refinished some furniture.
Paisley hit her terrible teenage stage.
Family came to visit, and we made good food...
refinished more furniture...
and wouldn't you know, enjoyed even more good food.
You worked so hard and graduated from BYU, and we are all so proud!
Overall, as usual we were blessed with an amazing year of travels, adventures, the occasional trial, and of course, good food. But most of all, our first married year together can best be summed up with this....
LOVE!
Happy Anniversary!
WOW! That is amazing and oh so sweet! What a great first year! Congratulations on your anniversary and on graduation! We need to get together again soon! Love ya!
ReplyDeleteMeghan, you obviously got yourself a keeper, but we already knew that! So fun to see how you spent your first year of marriage! Congrats you two! :0)
